How Do I Get a Real Estate License?

There are many different ways to obtain a real estate license in California. The type of education you choose will determine how long it will take you to get your license. You can complete college-level courses at your own pace, or take longer to finish them. Depending on your needs, either type of school will work for you.

In order to get your license in California, you will have to take the state real estate exam. This test contains 150 multiple-choice questions, with four choices per question. It takes approximately three hours to pass the exam. However, there are some exemptions. If you’re an attorney, you can skip the course. If you’re planning to work in California as a real estate agent, you’ll need to take a pre-licensing course before you can sit for the state exam.

To become a real estate agent in California, you must be at least 18 years old. You must also be a resident of the state. If you’re not a resident of the state, you can still apply to get a license.
